Setting autodiscover in advanced DNS for outlook 2016

Using Autodiscover to configure Outlook 2016 for Exchange 2010

Creating a new A record

Simply contact your domain administrator and request the following addition to your domains DNS A record.

If your Exchange server name is CAS.EMAIL.LOCAL enter:

 Host name Points to
 autodiscover.<domainname> 213.171.216.54

If your Exchange server name is CAS.EMAIL2.LOCAL enter:

 Host name  Points to
 autodiscover.<domainname> 213.171.216.58

If your Exchange server name is CAS.EMAIL3.LOCAL enter:

 Host name  Points to
 autodiscover.<domainname> 213.171.216.85

For example if your domain name is ralphsdomainname.com your domain provider can create an A record for autodiscover.ralphsdomainname.com to point to 213.171.216.54.

Once the A record has been added, you will be able to complete the steps in the following chapter and Outlook will automatically set up your Professional mailbox for you.

Using Autodiscover to configure Outlook 2016 for Exchange 2013

The configuration on Outlook 2016 requires Autodiscover DNS records to be created.

If you are using Fasthosts name servers, this record is created automatically.

If you are using a 3rd party to manage your domain name, then you will need to create this record manually. Contact your domain administrator and request the following additional CNAME record.

 Host Name Points to
 autodiscover.<domainname>  autodiscover.1.exchange2013.livemail.co.uk

In this example if your <domainname> is ralphsdomainname.com, your domain provider should create you a CNAME record for:

autodiscover.ralphsdomainname.com

and have it point to:

autodiscover.1.exchange2013.livemail.co.uk
